De tulp Judith Leyster is vernoemd naar de 17e-eeuwse Nederlandse schilderes Judith Leyster. Ze was een van de weinige vrouwelijke kunstenaars in haar tijd die een aanzienlijke reputatie verwierf en is bekend om haar genretaferelen en portretten. Haar werk valt onder de barokstijl en ze werd erkend door haar tijdgenoten, waaronder Rembrandt.
