Aximensis
Tulipa aximensis is een botanische tulp die zijn naam dankt aan de stad Axum (Aksum) in Ethiopië, waar hij oorspronkelijk is aangetroffen. Het achtervoegsel -ensis betekent letterlijk “afkomstig uit”. Het is dus een soort die niet door een kweker is veredeld, maar uit de natuur is beschreven. Deze tulp wordt gekenmerkt door zijn wilde, natuurlijke uitstraling en behoort tot de groep species-tulpen die vooral geliefd zijn om hun authenticiteit en historische waarde.
